Bribe Probe Ensnarls Conyers

Here is an interesting story being reported by the  "Detroit News " involving the wife of Rep. John Conyers, D-Detroit.

It seems that the Federal investigators have electronic surveillance evidence that allegedly links Detroit City Council President Pro Tem Monica Conyers with receiving a payment or payments in connection with a city approved sludge contract.

Conyers-- who switched her position in opposition to this sludge contract to a favorable one is under investigation in connection with possible bribes relating to the $47 million contract with a firm by the name of Synagro Technologies Inc. of Houston Texas.
It is being reported that others connected to the City but not necessarily Council members are also under investigation.

News of this scandal first broke on June 28th and since then Monica Conyers has been absent from City Council meetings. She has also declined to comment on the ongoing probe into her role in this unfolding scandal.
As reported by the Detroit News--In November, the City Council voted 5-4 to award a contract to Synagro that would net the company close to $47 million a year to haul and treat the city's sewage sludge.  The investigation into Synagro is part of a larger probe into contracts awarded by City Hall related to Cobo Center and other city departments and that it spans several years.

Prominent Detroit attorney representing Conyers, Steve Fishman said any allegations against Conyers should be viewed with skepticism.  Said Fishman---" Every time I hear the word allegedly, it reminds me of Gladys Knight and her song, "I heard it through the grapevine".

( Funny thing these allegations. They always have a way of coming back to bite someone in the ass don't they? Wonder what song Fishman will be thinking of if and when these "allegations" turn out to be true? Jail House rock sounds about right. )

When contacted by the Detroit News, Conyers said in a brief telephone interview--"I'm not feeling well right now. When I get back to work, I'll get back to work".

( Amazing how getting busted taking bribes has that effect on people. Kinda makes the stomach hurt and the ass pucker! Not to mention the chest pains that always seem to follow an indictment! )

Now I don't know if  Mrs. Conyers is guilty or not. Looks like the Feds are putting the squeeze on her and she is not feeling to well. We shall see how this all flushes out. Looks like the Feds have their sights on the whole den of thieves operating out of their lair in Detroit.
I wonder what Rep. John Conyers has to say about this? Seems  wifey has been a bad girl and if this scandal lives up to it's billing, Rep. Conyers might just be having to answer a few questions of his own.

Heres a video of Monica's greatest hits. as reported by the  Detroit News, Mrs. Conyers is quite a piece of work.
